Travels of the not so Human Kind
America offers some of the most diverse sights anywhere on earth. From the beaches of Florida to the high Rocky Mountains all of them have a different story to say about the land that is America. If you happen to be just bored with the regular tours and sights, why not consider a trip to Groom Lake. If you still don’t know it, it’s more commonly called Area 51, a secret (not actually that much of a secret) military installation operated by the US Air force that has given birth to some of the best aircraft of all time. From the U2 to the F-117 stealth, they all came from this place that everybody knows is there but the military won’t say it. Formally declassified (the existence of the facility) in 2003, the US Department of Defense has remained silent with regards to other details other than admitting of its existence. Some areas have no impressive fences but you do get to see signs say that says it is Government Property and that the use of lethal force is authorized for any who venture into the restricted lands beyond. Some people who have ventured into these murky lands have been chased down by heavily armed men in trucks, pick-ups and helicopters without markings. Though many encounters have been documented, no violent ones have been known to have happened. A simple fine ($600.00) kast we checked and a discreet visit from the FBI or CIA. So, for that element of danger and adventure all rolled into one, get down and see Groom Lake for that otherworldly experience(just don;t get shot).
