Halifax in the early times was populated by Mi’kmaq, They were the first inhabitants. 1749 was the year the city was changed forever. The British established the city mainly to compete with the French fort in Nova Scotia. It was used as stronghold for the military through a number of wars that it had undergone. Namely the American Revolution and the War of 1812. It played a major part in the rescue operations for the sunken Titanic in April 14, 1912. Three cemeteries still exist today where 150 Titanic victims were buried but were never identified. The first major maritime disaster unfolded here in 1917. The city is known for a lot of FIRSTs. Canada’s representative government, Protestant church and the newspaper.

Millions of people flock to Las Vegas for their vacation. And not all of them go there to gamble. Casinos offer more than slot machines and poker tables. No wonder it is called “The Entertainment Capital of the World”. There is really more to it than gambling and strip clubs. One thing to watch here is one of its biggest attractions, circus show. Some shows like Cirque du Soleil, with many versions of their amazing stunts circus playing all at the same time at different casinos. And it has been showing for years now. And still growing more popular every year.Popular entertainers play there. Celine Dionne recently ended her four-year run at the Caesar’s Palace. Imagine, 4 years. Elton John is coming next, slotted for a few months to perform for the same venue. Broadway musicals are popular too. Performed on the stages of Las Vegas casinos and other palaces. During the day, shopping will consume much of your time with all the available high end shops. There are also more affordable malls in Las Vegas. Via Bellagio is one high end spot you should check out. There are many items here you will never find elsewhere. Dining comprises another attraction for visitors. You might end up to a restaurant owned by famous chefs Bobby Flay and Wolfgang Puck.

Let’s start with one of New York’s most famous landmarks–The Statue of Liberty. Given as a present from the French, it has been welcoming all visitors since 1886. It still stands there today, as a symbol liberty and escape from oppression. Although, the island is open to tourists, the statue itself has been closed off for safety’s sake. Nevertheless, it’s truly awe-inspiring to see the statue in person rather than look at it from a postcard.

The Live Music capital of the World” is Austin’s official slogan having a vibrant live music scene with quite a lot of music venues. Austin is the capital of Texas and a breeding place of film, music and multimedia festivals. It is famous for its nightclubs, unconventional lifestyle and diverse beliefs. People in Austin (Austinites) take pride in their eccentricity and diverse culture with a local motto of “Keep Austin Weird.” It is well known for the popular culture and support for local and independent businesses. It has also been a favorite site for several motion pictures partly because of the Department of Radio-Television Film course in The University of Texas at Austin. Museums, art establishments, music centres, zoo, resorts and other tourist attractions are also located all over the city.

Shopaholics will surely love this destination! Located in the Twin Cities suburd of Bloomington, Minnesota is the Mall of America. It is a super-regional shopping mall which is the largest mall in terms of total enclosed floor area and the second largest enclosed mall in terms of retail space in the United States. It opened in 1992 and is owned and managed by the Triple Five Group.

In 2006, the mall received 40 million visitors. Aside from the usual shops and restaurants, it also has different attractions like the: Nickelodeon Universe, an amusement park, A.C.E.S. flight simulations, LEGO Imagination Center, NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, United Airlines Flight 93 memorial, 14-screen AMC movie theater, A wedding chapel (called Chapel of Love), A full 18 hole miniature golf course, Metropolitan Learning Alliance, an alternative High School, The River Church and the Underwater Adventures Aquarium. It is truly a one-stop shop for all your needs!

A popular destination for rock climbers and also photographers is the Red River Gorge. It is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky. Surrounding the area are over 80 natural arches, historic sites, and trails for cross-country backpackers or just day hikers. The view is truly breathtaking with its arches and rock shelters east of the Rocky Mountains. Ancient Indians even used some of the rock shelters to live in!

One of the most accessible and popular arches is the Sky Bridge. From here, the magnificent view of Clifty Wilderness can be seen. The said portion is used for the preservation of wilderness experiences and values. The place also supports an unusual array of animal and plant life. There is a number of significant endangered species of animals and plants that exist here.

Everglades is a “Mangrove Jungle” that borders the Gulf of Mexico and the 10,000 islands. Fishing is popular here but visitors of all ages can find different activities.

There are a number of tours to go sightseeing and view the untouched wilderness and plentiful wildlife of the Everglades. A popular tour is by jet airboats where one will zip across the top of the water, enjoying the beauty and splendor of the Everglades.It is not only a huge swamp inhabited by alligators but a masterpiece of nature with its many kinds of wildlife and birds in their natural habitat.

Aside from that, activities like kayaking, bird watching and camping is also offered. There are plenty of nice accommodations around the area so visitors will not find a hard time looking for a place to stay.

A year-round resort area with 23 miles of beautiful white sand beaches, that is what Daytona Beach is. Historically known for its motorsports, with both the old Daytona Beach Road and Daytona International Speedway having hosted races, it is also the headquarters for the Grand American Road Racing Association and NASCAR.

Aside from the usual beach activities, there are other activites you can do. As Daytona is a bustling town, there are theaters, parks, golf courses, shops, museums that you can visit. It is also just an hour away from attractions in Orlando like Seaworld and Disneyland.
